Getting Started

Welcome to BigTimeUp! This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to start monitoring your websites.

Creating Your Account

To get started with BigTimeUp, you'll need to create an account:

  1. Visit the BigTimeUp homepage
  2. Click "Get Started Now" or "Sign In"
  3. Enter your email address and create a secure password
  4. Verify your email address by clicking the link we send you
  5. Complete your organization setup
Adding Your First Website

Once you've created your account and verified your email, you're ready to add your first website to monitor:

  1. Log in to your BigTimeUp dashboard
  2. Click the "Add Site" button in the top navigation
  3. Enter your website URL (e.g., https://example.com)
  4. Click "Start Monitoring"
Pro Tip: You can add multiple websites at once using the "Bulk Add" feature. Just enter one URL per line.
Understanding the Dashboard

Your dashboard provides an at-a-glance view of all your monitored websites:

  • Overall Stats: View aggregate uptime percentage and average response times across all sites
  • Site List: See all your monitored websites with their current status (Up/Down)
  • Recent Downtime: Quick access to any recent downtime incidents
  • Slowest Sites: Identify which sites have the highest response times
  • Trends: Visualize your uptime and performance over time
Viewing Site Details

Click on any website in your dashboard to see detailed monitoring information:

  • Current Status: Whether the site is currently up or down
  • SLA Status: 30-day uptime percentage (99.9%, 99%, 95%, etc.)
  • Uptime Metrics: 24-hour, 7-day, and 30-day uptime percentages
  • Response Time: Average, minimum, and maximum response times
  • SSL Certificate: Certificate validity and expiration date
  • Check History: Detailed log of all monitoring checks
Configuring Email Alerts

BigTimeUp automatically sends email alerts to all organization members when issues are detected. You'll receive notifications for:

  • Website downtime (site returns error or doesn't respond)
  • Slow response times (configurable threshold)
  • SSL certificate expiration warnings (30 days before expiry)
Important: Make sure to verify your email address to receive alerts. Check your spam folder if you don't see the verification email.
Managing Organization Members

BigTimeUp uses an organization-based structure, allowing you to collaborate with team members:

  1. Navigate to the "Organization" page from the top menu
  2. Click "Invite Member"
  3. Enter their email address
  4. They'll receive an invitation email with a link to join

All organization members can view monitored sites and receive alerts. Organization owners can add/remove sites and manage members.

What Happens Next?

After adding your website:

  1. First Check: BigTimeUp immediately performs an initial check of your website
  2. Regular Monitoring: Your site is checked every 5 minutes, 24/7/365
  3. Data Collection: Uptime and response time data begins accumulating
  4. Instant Alerts: If downtime is detected, you'll receive an email within minutes
  5. SSL Monitoring: SSL certificate is checked and expiration is tracked
